Take Care Of Your Car And It Will Run For Years
Cars depreciate fast; a car actually goes down in value right when you drive it off the dealer’s lot. So what can you do to make sure your car keeps running long and strong?
Taking proper care of your vehicle is one way to maximize it’s lifespan. Maintenance is taking care of everything from changing the oil and tire rotation to cleaning the interior. Some of these things are easy to take care of yourself, however some should be left to either a mechanic or yes, the dealer.
Curious to know which items are worth doing it yourself and others best left to the dealer? Well the easiest way to break this down is ask yourself two questions. First, are your mechanically inclined? If you answer yes then there are many items you can and should take care of yourself, from oil and filter changes to cleaning your car.
If you have a new car warranty then any and all items that are covered under the warranty should be taken care of by the dealer. Many automakers will allow for factory authorized mechanics to perform the warranty items. Check your warranty documents to be sure. If something is covered by the warranty its best to let the dealer take care of it.
It is also pertinent to follow the maintenance procedures suggested by your auto’s manufacturer. Keeping up with these items and keeping track of when they were performed is a valuable record that documents the care you have given your car. It is easy to say you took care of such and such at the recommended intervals but difficult to verify. When you make a note of each item there is no question as to the maintenance history of your vehicle.
Keeping your car looking new and shiny is easy. If you would rather have someone do this for you there are many detailers that will come to your home or office and keep your car looking showroom new, both inside and out. If you care to tackle this yourself there are many great products to help you maintain your vehicles appearance. Just make sure you follow the instructions.
It is inevitable that a new car will loose value. How much and how quickly it does so has a lot to do with how well you take care of your new cars’ maintenance. Keep it clean, keep it running properly and keep it a long time and your car will last for many years.
