Essential Things To Consider When Potty Training Your Child
Parents can keep the pitfalls of potty training their children while they are traveling simply by taking a few steps to prepare properly.
Don’t forget to take your kid’s potty chair with you when you go. This is important because it won’t disrupt their training. When those unexpected bathroom emergencies do some along, the only thing you need to do is pull over and set the potty chair on the seat. Just make sure that you bring liners or baggies to line the seat with. This will make for a better situation all around and make clean up a snap.
Don’t forget to also bring extra toilet paper or diaper wipes with you on the trip. Also, use what you normally use at home, because your child will appreciate the consistency.
Take with you the things that thy are used to, and you will have one less thing to worry about in terms of potty training. Long trips can be hard on everyone in the car, and bringing some of those comforts from home helps a lot.
Another thing to think about is getting some disposable training pants for the ride. There are so many different kinds to select from and it can help protect the car as well as the child if an accident does happen.
Try and keep the amount your kid has to drink in the car to a minimum. Don’t let them get dehydrated, but don’t encourage them to have to go to the bathroom every ten minutes either. It’s not always easy to find a quick place to pull over.
You should plan on making occasional stops at rest areas. Don’t think twice about bringing your child’s potty seat with you into the bathroom either. Children will be more inclined to go to the bathroom in a familiar chair.
Expect your child to have an accident or two along the way because of the stress from traveling. Just remember to be patient and know that he will learn soon enough. Just remember, traveling is hard for adults, but can be even harder on children.
Once you arrive at your final destination, remember to give your child lots of encouragement and positive reinforcement with his potty training. This will help you be successful on your potty training adventure.
