Try and get someone to take you out in between lessons and you may save some £'s although insuring a learner driver can be expensive too. Try contacting the DVLA, they should be able to help you find courses in your area. So far I've found BSM (the British School of Motoring) to offer the most services. (sorry that grammar isn't very good, but I hope you get the gist of it).
