How long does it take for someone to learn how to drive a manual?
KnowMe asked:
I was wondering how long it took everyone else to learn how to drive a manual car?
I bought a manual car because my boyfriend persuaded me to buy and he said it was going to be easy to learn how to drive it.
It’s been about 6 months now and i Haven’t even tried! So how long did it take you to learn??
I plan on going tomorrow…

It took me about 3 minutes to learn stick shift when I was about 13… You should be just fine…
shifting the stick from neutral to first then to second. it was very easy. remember use clutch before shifting gears. its fun
it depends on the person learning how to drive it. It took me about a month to get it all down and another month until I had mastered it.
Unless your a complete retard, about a week.
I learned how to drive on a stick..aka..manual. Its easy if you have good body control..rythum..you know..co-ordination. I still drive a stick.
I would suggest reading the manual and driving the car. jk.
It took me a week or so. You have to try it. Ask your boyfriend to guide you.
I bought a 71 VW Beetle back in the early 90′s. While sitting in the driveway, my dad showed me exactly what to do (clutch, gas, stick). One day after school, I decided I was going to take my younger sis out for a ride in my “new” car. It took me all of about 2 minutes to get the hang of it. It’s really no problem. Just listen to the engine…It will tell you when to change gears! Good luck and HAVE FUN!
my brother took me to my school parking lot one day. I bought a manual as my second car (wrecked my first one ;( ) I had a rough idea on how it worked so that may have helped. if your boyfriend drives it at all and you are in the car watch his timing between when he pushes the clutch in and when he shifts.
In my opinion learning first gear is the toughest, because if you drop the clutch your prolly gonna spin the tires, or if u dont get the gas enough you’re gonna stall it. and also because it doesnt take long before you have to shift into second.
all in all it only took me a few tries till i had it down good. I love driving a manual..it keeps you more alert and awake
shifting the stick is easy. but the switchovers between clutch, brake and accilerator isn’t esy.
