I need to learn to drive a stick for my new job. I have never driven a stick before. Should I put an ad on Craigslist? I don’t think driving schools offer training on manual transmissions. If I hire a tutor, how much should I pay them? I live in Texas. Thank you.
Comments on I have to learn to drive a manual transmission. Where can I get a teacher and how much should I pay them?

Take a friend who knows what they are doing for your first ride. It is very easy to learn yourself if you just stick with it.

Try to find a friend to do it.It’s going to be hard to tell how much you should pay

I don’t know of any schools which teach you how to drive a manual transmission. My dad taught me by throwing me the keys and telling me “the gears are 1-2-3-4″ while motioning with his hand. Took me about 2 weeks before I got it down but once I did, it wasn’t a problem.
Where in Texas are you? If you are in Houston, email me and I might be able to help you.

Find someone that drives stick..what about the one youd borrow the vehicle from? Seriously..you can learn this in under 10 minutes. Its basic things..most people have trouble at starting (well duh) but after that it gets easier..starting and not grinding and doing bunny hops are they key..;)
